Identification

Under the Order introduced on 25 September 1996 by the Regional Government of Valencia, which regulates the identification system for companion animals, dogs must be identified within the first three months after their birth or in the month after being acquired. The application must be made to the Registro Surpramunicipal de Animales de Compañía (Supramunicipal Registry of Companion Animals) of the Valencian Community.

Infringements in this matter are defined under the Spanish Protection of Companion Animals Act 1994 No. 4 and are considered serious violations carrying a fine of 600 to 6000€
